Suspected gay beaten to pulp in Techiman

A 42-year-old guy had a near-fatal encounter when he was viciously attacked by a group on the suspicion that he is gay in the Techiman traditional area of the Bono East Region.

Isaac Osae Adum, the victim, has reportedly been suspected of being gay by his pals for a long time since he has never had a partner and solely hangs out with men, even though he has always denied it.

When he unannouncedly dropped by his house, one of his childhood pals found him in a compromising situation with another man and snapped a picture of them.

He then spared no time in announcing the news and disseminating the image of the two men sharing a passionate embrace across the neighborhood.

Since homosexuality is against their tradition and is strongly despised, this infuriated the youth.

Armed with various weapons, the irate youngsters marched over to Adum's residence where they gave him serious beatings inside his own home.

Only a few decent samaritans who couldn't take the beatings before he was taken to the hospital were able to save him.

They continued to harass him and even his family after they urged him to leave the neighborhood, to the point that he openly considered suicide.

"I was present when they beat him, and I've never seen even a criminal treated that way. He was pleading with them for his life and telling them it wasn't true that he was gay, but it only seemed to enrage the angry youth further "said a witness.

The witness continued, "I feel so bad for him because I don't even think he can sleep at night because sometimes people keep hammering and throwing things at his window during the night, threatening him and all kinds of harassment."
