After attempting to hijack a bus, a man thought to be in his mid-30s was lynched at Asafo in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region, on Wednesday morning.
The dead attempted to flee in a Grand Bird bus with the V.I.P. Transport Company's registration number GE-2384, but the driver's companion and some bystanders pursued and apprehended the suspect.
A short time after the mob attack, the suspect was killed after being pummeled with items.
"As the driver and his companion were pursuing the suspect while operating the stolen bus, the suspect leaped from the bus when he sensed danger. During this time, the bus was driving without a driver and began running into people who were parked in cars.
However the deceased suspect's luck ran out, and after being apprehended with the assistance of some neighborhood residents, he was battered to death. About the incident, that is all I have to say, an eyewitness told GHOne News.
The suspect's dead body was sent to the mortuary by the Asokwa district police command in the interim for preservation.
An investigation into the incident has started.
