Two kids were washed away by a torrential downpour on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Babadongo near Bortianor in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, and their dead bodies were later found.
Children, an 11-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, were reportedly evacuating with their parents for safety when the floodwaters flooded their home, according to adomonline.com.
The children were carried away by the swift water flow as they attempted to cross to a safer location after the rain forced the nearby bridge to overflow and flood the area, according to the news website.
The village was in mourning when residents launched a search for the drowned kids only to discover their bodies about a mile from where they lived.
A video of the grieving mother shows her sobbing hysterically as she laments the death of her children.
Several areas of Ghana's capital, Accra, are now under water as a result of the country's severe rains, which also caused traffic and annoyance for drivers.
This is very sad 😭
