91-year old man who left home in search of greener pastures 50 years ago returns with only a walking stick

Samuel Machuka, a 91-year-old Kenyan who vanished from his house 50 years ago, has unexpectedly returned, albeit only with a walking stick.

The individual had been employed as a casual laborer on a farm in Wote, Makueni County, where he was discovered with the assistance of the Provincial Administration.

The Standard reported that Machuka left his home in the 1970s in quest of "greener pastures" and traveled to an unidentified location.

Even though only a few of his contemporaries recognized him, he was warmly welcomed back by his family in Masabo hamlet, Nyaribari Masaba Kisii, upon his homecoming.

They had previously collaborated in Mau Narok in 1995 before losing touch due to a lack of communication routes. Robert Makomba was his nephew.

Makomba thanked the Provincial Administration and said that they, as Seventh-Day Adventist Christians, would gladly welcome Machuka back to his house and allow him to settle, without performing any ceremonies.

Machuka admitted to having three informal marriages when asked about his marital status, although he was unsure of the whereabouts of his wives.

His elderly uncles, who had been looking for him, expressed relief and pledged to help him start a family.

They promised to welcome any woman who had his children back home and provided him his share of the family's land to build a house.
