Police arrest 17-year-old boy for impregnating 10 ladies

A 17-year-old kid named Noble Uzuchi has been detained by the Rivers State Police Command in Nigeria for impregnating 10 women.

The defendant and his accomplice, 29-year-old Chigozie Ogbonna, were both apprehended.

The two suspects and two additional women, Peace Alikoi, 40, and Favour Bright, 30, were reportedly running a baby factory, according to law enforcement officials.

According to Pulse.ng, Rivers Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, the arrests were made as a result of a tip.

The four suspects were operating in the state's Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre local government areas prior to their arrest, according to a statement from the police chief.

She continued by saying that following the operation and suspects' arrests, cops had managed to save 10 pregnant women.

"On Saturday, January 7, 2023, at around 4:45 p.m., C4I Intelligence Unit agents stormed two homes in the towns of Igwuruta and Omagwa, where victims of child trafficking were being detained, acting on reliable information made available to the Rivers State Police Command.

Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, stated in the statement, "The victims recovered in the operation are 10, with the most of them pregnant."

She said that according to investigations, some of the babies who had previously been born in the houses had been sold. She also said that when a victim gave birth, the syndicate leader kept the child and gave her a payment of N500,000.

"All of the victims admitted that they were persuaded to engage in the illegal selling of children in order to overcome some financial obstacles. The syndicate boss was found with a white Honda Pilot Jeep.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken up the case to conduct additional research and possibly bring the offenders to justice.

The buyers of the already sold infants are being sought out and apprehended in order to face justice for their crimes.
