Independence Day Celebration: How crocodile was conjured to greet President Akuffo-Addo at parade in Ho

At the Ho procession on March 6, 2023, the rich "voodoo" tradition of the Volta people was on display.

That is how the crocodile that greeted President Akufo-Addo at the parade materialized out of thin air.

The crocodile, in accordance with regional tradition, was a component of the Zagbetor, a revolving raffia.

Without using its feet, the raffia-made Zagbetor could rotate and move from one location to another. Its feet were totally undetectable.

This was done to demonstrate the deity's spiritual and magical strength as well as their ability to walk around without legs.

The Zagbetor was performing acrobatics and rotating throughout the parade when a crocodile appeared out of nowhere, walked right up to the president, and bowed in submission to a superior being.

The crocodile's ability to follow instructions from humans and complete the duty flawlessly while under the influence of supernatural power attracted the attention of many people.

Many people think the Volta region's residents really value their culture, which is why they gracefully and ostentatiously showcased it during the procession.
