A heartbreaking report from Nigeria has confirmed that a woman and her 8-year-old daughter (names withheld) have tested positive for HIV after the woman's boyfriend, one Jude Chinedu aka, Ijiegbe, allegedly raped the minor in their house in Alegbor Community, Uvwie LGA of Delta state.
DailyTrust reported that records of the medical tests revealed that the mom and her daughter are sick with the dreadful disease.
"The suspect, a married man, has fled the scene." The suspect is the woman's boyfriend and had been squatting with her and her daughter. He fled the house once it was discovered that he had carnal knowledge of the little girl.
The Anambra State police have launched a manhunt for the suspect. The lover will bathe and have sex with the small girl every time the woman who sells pap goes out hawking.
He would usually threaten to murder her if she informed anyone. Comrade Kelvin Ejumudo, a human rights activist in the state, reported the incident to the police.
The young child was taken to the hospital for a medical examination, when it was revealed that she had HIV. The same test was performed on the mother, who also came back positive.
'The police have been following the suspect's phone number. He was almost nabbed on Thursday but managed to flee into the jungle,'' he claimed.
