On Wednesday afternoon in Accra's Adabraka Official Town, between Nobles Spot and the well-known Aponkye Spot, there was a daylight armed robbery that lasted no more than two minutes.
Eyewitnesses did not even phone the police to report the occurrence; they just stood there helpless when the robbers pulled out a black revolver, making it impossible for anyone to assist.
After the robbers—two of them—had sped off on a black motorbike with their bounty, which was a sizeable sum of cash wrapped in a polythene bag, the robbery victim was left alone to weigh his losses before leaving the scene.
There were signs that the robbers had followed the victim in plain sight from the location where he had collected the money, and then had attacked him when he arrived at the Brewery Loop on Official Street.
According to a few eyewitnesses who spoke with Graphic Online on Wednesday [August 23, 2023], the incident took place about 2:30 pm.
The robbers stopped the victim and told him to open the bag, according to the witnesses, who heard them demanding money.
What took place?
The daylight robbery incident was over in less than two minutes, and the criminals fled the scene on the black motorbike they had utilised for the operation while making off with a sizeable sum of money.
Additionally, the victim was riding a red motorbike.
The Brewery Loop connecting the Official Street in Adabraka Official Town is where it happened.
According to eyewitness accounts provided to Graphic Online, the two suspects approached the victim from the opposite side of the loop while riding a black motorbike and hiding their faces with helmets and wearing black jackets.
They were able to stop the victim by using the motorbike to impede his forward motion.
The pillion rider allegedly pointed a black pistol at the victim as soon as he did.
They demanded that he empty a rucksack that he was carrying, and when he did, they took the sizable sum of money that was wrapped in a polythene bag from him.
A second GH400, made up of two distinct GH200 notes, was discovered when they checked the bag. They took that one as well and sped away.
The incident terrified the onlookers, who claimed they were afraid to step in.
After the incident, the victim lingered for a while before departing.
