Man who faked heart attack in 20 restaurants to avoid paying the bills arrested

A Lithuanian living in Spain named Aidas J defrauded 20 eateries in the city of Alicante before being apprehended and imprisoned.

He would collapse on the ground during his performances and hold his chest while acting in anguish.

One of the restaurants the con guy conned told reporters that it was "very theatrical," adding that "he pretended to faint and slumped himself down on the floor."

Aidas even sought medical assistance for his fictitious heart issues; however, this was only discovered when he repeated the process twice at El Buen Comer.

According to the local police, Aidas claims to be a Russian visitor who doesn't know Spanish while dressing in "designer clothes."

Another restaurant owner who was a victim of Aidas claimed that before he pretended to have a heart attack, he had ordered several pricey whisky glasses, a Russian salad and a major meal like entrecote or lobster.

After rejecting two fines he was given for his theatrical fraud, the con artist has now served 42 days in jail.

Aidas only committed "minor crimes" because each bill he skipped was only a modest sum, ranging from €15 to €70 (£13 to £60).

Throughout the course of his two-month crime spree, he was repeatedly caught but released because he only owed a modest sum to each eatery.

But in order to keep the con artist behind bars for longer, the owners of the restaurants that were conned want to file a combined case.
