2 Ada SHS students drown in Volta River

Two Ada Senior High School (SHS) students from the Greater Accra area tragically perished in the Volta River.

The sad event happened on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

According to unidentified reports, the students—who are reportedly between the ages of 16 and 18—are accused of leaving the school without permission in order to swim in the nearby Volta River.

According to reports, locals noticed the students and rushed to help them, but they were sadly too late to save the students.

An eyewitness claimed that the pupils had gone to the river to get water because there wasn't enough water in the school and that they always depended on the river in times of drought.

He stated, "The school authorities came yesterday and they went and reported it to the Ada police station so they have taken them to the district hospital."

The two pupils' drowning has prompted the authorities to begin an investigation.
