Famous Ghanaian waakye seller, Auntie Muni dies at age 72

Asaase Radio was informed by Auntie Muni's family that the well-known waakye vendor had gone away.

After a brief illness, Auntie Muni passed away at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra on January 3.

Auntie Muni's son Arafat informed Benjamin Offei-Addo during their unfortunate Wednesday morning appearance on the Asaase Breakfast Show that her last resting place would be in Tamale today.

"Mum became ill and complained, so we went to the SNNIT Hospital to get treated.

But then things got complicated, so she asked to be let go," Arafat recalled. Her condition did not get better two days after being released.

We hurriedly took her to the University of Ghana Medical Centre, where she passed away this morning at three in the morning.
