The e-levy which its introduction saw lots
of disagreement and disputes but at the end of it all the government introduced
it at a rate of 1.75% which was later reduced to 1.5%.
During the 2023 budget reading on 24th
November, the finance minister said it has been reduced to 1% and the daily
transaction threshold has also been removed.
This was done to allow more Ghanaians use
the service which is convenient for a large section of the Ghanaian public. The
introduction saw a backlash from Ghanaians to the service and a review was
always what Ghanaians were looking for.
