E/R: 17 year-old boy losing fingers over missing Ghc600

After a self-styled pastor burned his hand with anointing oil to demonstrate his innocence or guilt in relation to the disappearance of ghc600, a seventeen (17) year old junior high school graduate is losing his right fingers.

The incident happened at Adansi Nsokote, which is on the boundary of the Eastern and Ashanti Regions, close to the Ofoase Ayirebi area.

Osei Boadi Joseph, the victim, is presently being treated at the Eastern region's Akyem Oda Government Hospital.

The victim's mother, Emelia Adutwumwaa, told Starr News that her sister-in-law, with whom they share a home in the neighborhood, claimed her Ghc600 was stolen from her room.

Yaa Sarfoa, Joseph's sister-in-law, accused him of the crime, but despite his repeated denials, she persisted in bringing a self-styled pastor for mystical rituals to find the culprit.

The boy agreed to dip his right palm into the anointing oil for 15 minutes to establish his innocence after the self-styled Pastor spat anointing oil on the ground.

"After fifteen minutes, nothing occurred. The Pastor then instructed him to take his palm out of the scalding anointing oil. However, my boy began to whine that his palm and fingers had been scorched that evening. His health deteriorated a few days later as a result of the fingers charring, his mother claimed.
The Pastor was detained after a complaint was made to the Akyem Amantia Police station, but the Assembly member intervened to get him released in exchange for an amicable resolution, and the Police agreed, allowing the suspect to proceed freely.
On Monday, March 27, 2023, the victim was taken to Oda Government Hospital where he is currently getting care after it was determined that the boy's condition was not improving despite numerous medical interventions at a primary healthcare facility.

The victim was unable to take the necessary actions to enroll in the Senior High School to which he had been posted because of the heinous episode.

"Due to this event, he was unable to apply for secondary school admission. We currently don't even have enough money to cover his medical expenses because his health insurance was just renewed, which is not currently functioning.I treated my kid with all of my savings. I want justice and money." Emelia, the victim's mother, said

The victim has been visited by the department of social welfare, who has started an inquiry into the incident.
