Three people are fighting for their lives, and several Senior High School students returning to school on an STC coach have suffered varying degrees of injuries after the bus collided with a tipper truck at Budu Atta Junction in Gomoa East District on the Winneba-Cape Coast Highway in the Central Region.
The bus, which was carrying mostly students, is said to have begun skidding as it approached Buduatta Junction in the early hours of Monday, April 17, 2023.
According to witnesses, the STC bus with registration number GB-1079-20 was seen driving directly towards the tipper truck after the driver lost control and was crushed into it.
Before falling on its side, the bus somersaulted numerous times.
The Ambulance Service, the Police, and the Winneba Fire Department all raced to the scene to help the victims.
The injured were taken to the Winneba Trauma and Specialty Hospital for treatment.
