A 35-year-old man died while attempting to save a goat from drowning in a well in the Bono East Region's Atebubu region.
Yaw Owusu was purportedly on his way to work when a neighbor urged him to save her drowning goat.
He was promised GHS 70, which he agreed to before entering the community's well.
He is claimed to have dived in, unaware of the depth of the well, and was gone in two minutes.
The Ghana Fire Service rescued his body from the well and handed it over to police officers from the district station after people alerted them to the situation.
According to reports, the goat was also found dead.
According to a firefighter who talked to the media, the victim may have banged his skull in the well based on the degree of damage observed on his head during the rescue.
He went on to say that it took three people to descend into the well with a ladder to find his body.
